Established in 1959, Louisiana State University at Alexandria (LSUA) is a four-year undergraduate institution with a mission to bring affordable higher education to its students in an environment that challenges them to excel academically. LSUA offers a range of associate and bachelor's degree programs, including:

  • Biology
  • Communication Studies
  • Criminal Justice
  • Medical Lab Science
  • Nursing
  • Psychology
  • Radiologic Technology

LSUA also offers a number of certification programs, including Pharmacy Technology, Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education.

In keeping with its commitment to continued learning, LSUA offers a variety of non-credit opportunities in technology, exam preparation, health and wellness and professional development through its Continuing Education Department. The department also trains employees of local businesses through its Workforce and Economic Development program and runs the Children's Academic Program for Summer, hosting a variety of academic courses for first through fifth graders.

In addition to academics, LSUA provides its students with extracurricular clubs and student-run organizations. The university's student life enhancements include several national honor societies, student government, 4-H club, psychology club and the Student Nurses Association. The university also offers several athletic teams, including baseball, basketball, soccer, softball and tennis.
