View All Parks & Rec

Located in the Central Louisiana uplands approximately 15 miles northwest of Alexandria, Cotile Lake is a 1,775-acre lake stocked by the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission and is home to a number of game fish, such as bass, perch and catfish. Cotile Recreation Area (CRA) is a 75-acre park located on the shores of the lake. The park provides fishermen and boaters a large area to launch watercraft. In addition, a section of the lake in the park is zoned for swimming, while another portion is a designated water skiing area.

Modern picnic and camping areas are also available with more than 60 sites for RVs, featuring full hook-ups and a large area for tent camping. There is a playground, and the surrounding woods are easy to hike and explore. CRA features two popular events each year. The Association of Louisiana Bass Clubs holds a youth fishing tournament the first weekend in August, with more than 500 kids participating. The last weekend of March, the park presents its annual Trade Days, featuring arts, crafts and a variety of vendors in a large, market-style atmosphere.
