Magnet schools in Central Louisiana provide specialized instruction and unique learning opportunities to children in elementary, middle and high school. Areas of concentrated instruction at highly regarded magnet schools in the region include music, art, science, law and engineering. Qualified students attend magnet schools located in the parish where they reside.

In Rapides Parish, magnet school students master the cello and violin, help create stage backdrops and theater props and write original music. At yet another magnet campus, students use iPads as part of a self-directed learning program in the Montessori tradition. Area magnet high school students hone their legal arguments in a mock courtroom, collaborate on digital-animation projects and take classes to prepare them for careers in engineering or medicine.
