One of the region's newest and most popular gatherings, Alex River Fête is a three-day family-friendly festival celebrating the culture of Central Louisiana. Known for its wide array of events and held downtown by the banks of the Red River each May, the festival draws thousands of attendees every year.

One of the most captivating events during the festival is the Louisiana Dragon Boat Races. A fundraiser for the Alexandria Museum of Art, the competition is replete with costume-clad teams paddling elegant and slender dragon boats down the Red River for top honors.

The arts are a signature highlight of Alex River Fête. Regional bands play live music on outdoor stages with plenty of room for dancing. Winding through downtown, the ArtWalk features dozens of regional artists and craftspeople displaying and selling their work.

Held on the festival's opening night, Dinner on the Bricks features numerous local restaurants and caterers serving their most popular menu items in booths along brick-lined Third Street. Alex River Fête also includes a special children's area with activities and games, food booths and a classic car show.
