Some of the most scenic areas in the state are found in Central Louisiana, especially along the hundreds of miles of trails located in Kisatchie National Forest. In addition, the region's many organized sports leagues and well-maintained parks help ensure both kids and adults are able to stay fit and active while at play. The Alexandria Zoo is home to more than 500 animals and draws approximately 200,000 visitors each year.
